– Counter-Hegemonic Narratives of Aging: Identity, Space, and Belonging –

October 5 (Sat.) ~ October 6 (Sun.) 2024
at Ritsumeikan University, Kyoto, Japan
[Hybrid: Soshikan Conference Hall (SO 101) & online via Zoom]

funded by The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) – Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research (KAKENHI)

Amidst the globally aging population, individuals in microcosms narrate subjective encounters with the transitional process of body, mind, and spirit. Growing diverse communities and life-experiences challenge established discourses through counter-hegemonic narratives. The two-day international symposium explores divergent experiences, disparate communities, multifaceted aspects of care, and differing ways and means of autonomous aging.
Day One (Oct. 5, 08:30–17:15 JST) highlights aging in various international regions.
Day Two (Oct. 6, 08:30–18:30 JST) focuses on Japan.
